I’ve noticed that you’ve brought up having to pick from certain random Digimon when it comes to the campaigns you’re in, I would love to know more about that!
We use random generators to determine the partners/companions
With some restrictions of course, like sorting out the higher levels beforehand, removing special variants, etc
Our DM writes a tool now, to make it easier if the need for a new Digimon arises

If Klaus is your favorite, could we hear more about him and why :O
Piemon is my favorite Digimon so that’s already a big plus. And I was fortunate with the randomly generated personality, it felt nice to play with him.
He’s also around the longest of them so I had more time to play with this character than with the others.

Poor Simon. Who came first partner-wise for him? How did they meet? :3
Klaus was his first partner. They met when Simon was eight years old.
Klaus saved him from an attack by a Mummymon and tried to help him find a way back to his own home world. Though it was always Klaus’ dream to meet a human, he really loves them and their world, and nothing could have made him happier to bond with one, it’s not even being partnered with one, gaining an evolution, etc, he just thinks.. they are cool, super cool.
He lived in one of the numerous Junkyard Zones and collected stuff that ended up there from the human world. He even builds a little digivice and play-protected a small doll, acting like the old chosen children with their partner Digimon from legends.
They were separated by an unknown force (later BBEG) and met again when he was thirteen years old.
He stayed in the Digital World for another two years and met Mari, his second partner at that time. A shy bullied Woodmon who grew attached to Klaus and him. Klaus didn’t really like her. Felt like an only child that suddenly had to live with a little sibling.
When he was nineteen years old, he met his last partner, Reno. A Lopmon that couldn’t speak and expressed itself more like a regular rabbit would.
They are obviously not partnered with him anymore since he died. Nor do Klaus and Mari remember him. (My personal goal is to make Reno forget about him as well, if we should get him back that is lol )

What can we learn about Reno, Klaus, and Mari's tamer? I'm very interested in human characters in digimon! I'm actually running a digi-dnd campaign (and categorically have no idea what I'm doing) with my players being tamers :3 I love them all.

I would love to know more about how your group modded dnd for digimon. Would it be a lot to ask more about Reno and your poor tamer's adventures? I'm super interested in your adventures!
I had once explained about this but I think I since deleted the posts about this DnD/PnP version…
We used different base games at the start but ended up with the How to be a Hero rule set. It’s pretty simple and allows a lot of freeform.

Reno was the latest addition to my own team and counts more as a mascot. He didn’t contribute much to the fights etc, and couldn’t even talk. Just a wee little source of cuteness for everyone. A very quiet fella. He also sees Klaus and Mari as his older siblings and vice versa)
He later lost control over his powers after evolving into a new form (Wizarmon and then right after Lucemon FM ) and killed one of the other players Digimon (Pinky, a LordKnightmon), and injured my human character (reducing the hp to almost zero, also got that broken leg in the process).
I think the biggest ‘adventure’ with him was convincing people that he is a plain ol’ bunny because the cloaking device didn’t work on him. A… completely normal bunny… With three horns, pink patches, and abnormally long, forked ears. Not to mention that the entire world knows, what a freaking Digimon is in this setting.

Well, I'd be interested in hearing about your human OCs too! I understand not wanting to do a wall of text. I'd definitely hesitate to do that in my second language (Spanish) too. Can I ask how your one tamer got eaten maybe?
Ah… Yes, let’s start with this most stupid thing that happened to me in that setting lol
Warning: Mention of death and being eaten alive.
tldr: A virus-infected Triceramon was very hangry and decided my character is the perfect snack and punching bag-combo. And my dice really hated me.

He uses his flute to lull enemies into a fake sense of security to drown them with his hair afterward.
Behold, the new Digimon I made for when I’m a player again. A naive little guy who was created for the sole purpose of me making lewd jokes about him.
I just needed some NPCs for the campaing.
I just needed someone to give the quest.
I didn’t plan to do anything big with those.
And I certainly didn’t plan to let them end up together.
But my players decided to be like ‘why yes, that’s a married couple with kids.’
And you know what?
Deal.
